The cultural association protagon has existed since 1999. We work to bring performing arts into public spaces, to where life happens. Where theater culture has the chance to reach everyone and can be accessible to everyone. In this way, we transform public spaces into open spaces where diverse and creative forms of expression find their place. We are convinced that theater and the performing arts enable encounters and foster dialogue, even across the trenches that permeate our society and beyond the fringes of social "bubbles." This potential drives us and gives us energy for our projects, because in an increasingly individualized and virtualized reality, these meeting spaces are becoming more important. We create spaces for social perception and debate that contribute to a modern, decolonial, and open society. With our offerings and activities, we offer cultural encounter spaces for a diverse society, in both urban and rural areas. Together with partners and sponsors, we implement large and small cross-genre events, many of which have a permanent place in Frankfurt's cultural landscape. We also organize workshops and socio-cultural education programs for children, young people, and adults in Frankfurt and in European and international projects. On our cultural grounds in the east of Frankfurt, we have training, production, and performance spaces, as well as artist residencies. Actively participating artists, freelancers, and members develop and shape these spaces and a shared culture. ```
