The "TRANSFORMATOR" intensive workshop series takes place in the protagon Hall. International artists offer a multifaceted range of training and continuing education programs in the fields of dance, music, and theater culture for amateurs, advanced students, and professionals. TRANSFORMATOR does not teach fixed methods, but rather focuses on the diversity of theater forms. Teachers from different cultural contexts are encouraged to develop new connections and perspectives. Through exchange with performing artists from non-European cultures (Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, South America, etc.), a profound exploration emerges that is essential for theater – a theater whose aesthetics emerge from movement and physical presence. TRANSFORMATOR also sees itself as a laboratory in which principles and concepts are explored. This incorporates both Western-style scientific findings as well as ritual cults and the cultural-historical backgrounds of the leaders and participants. Exploring the elements of original rituals holds the key to answering questions about the origins of theater. The training and continuing education program promotes intercultural comparison and dialogue to enable personal and artistic growth. Diversity of perspectives forms the basis for meaningful exchange. Encountering the unfamiliar creates the opportunity to "learn to learn" and to question entrenched patterns of thought and movement. Protagon e.V. leverages the contacts it has built up over the years in the national and international artistic scene to impart, accumulate, and further develop performing knowledge in TRANSFORMATOR. In this way, Protagon e.V. makes a concrete contribution to the development of an understanding of culture that recognizes diversity as a foundation and opportunity for the growth and creation of culture.
