Cultural education
We regularly conduct limited-term educational projects with a wide variety of target groups. For example, most recently, we collaborated with the Riederwald Children's and Youth Center as part of the "mut/los!" and "unter.druck" projects.
Working with young people – children and adolescents – is a recurring focus of our projects. In the past, we have implemented projects at Frankfurt schools as part of TUSCH (Theater and School), collaborated with the student shop "Backstube" from 2014 to 2019, worked with "Land in Sicht" (2015) and "Frankfurter Stadtgeschichten" (Frankfurt City Stories), and worked with unaccompanied minor refugees together with the AWO (Association of German Workers). Escuna Criativa, our socio-cultural education project in Bahía, Brazil, has been running theater programs for vulnerable groups, especially young people, for over ten years.
Finally, we also believe that special programs for children and young people are important—but it is equally important to create spaces where different generations can meet. From our experience, we know that theater can be a powerful tool for facilitating extraordinary exchanges. We regularly experience this at our events in public spaces, where all age groups are represented. But also, for example, in the context of special projects with which we specifically address and bring different generations together, such as "auf.brechen – intergenerational theater project" in the Wetterau region.

2024: COURAGE?LOS!
What things give you courage? And what scares you? Sharks, parental anger, fear of heights, and clowns. These are fears that, like monsters in the dark, grow bigger and more frightening the more we think about them, and we come up with playful ideas and experiments on how to face them courageously. And ideally, together.
We move from a fear of heights to free falling into the arms of those we trust. As part of the Courage? Go! theater project with the Riederwald Youth Center, children between the ages of 7 and 12 learn about theater through play, experience free falling, create their own scenes, craft props, and share their personal experiences with the themes of fear and courage.
A one-year project with children and young people from the Riederwald district. In cooperation with the Riederwald Children's and Youth Center.

2023: under pressure
the pressure is rising.
the pressure is rising.
the pressure is rising.
We're developing a play. With whom? With you. With us. With live music. With courage, passion, and fun. And without pressure.
The project unter.druck brings together two experienced practitioners of outreach cultural and social work, the protagon cultural association and the Riederwald Children's and Youth Center. The goal is to use participatory theater work with the participating young people to create spaces for encounters and exchange, to negotiate different life realities, and to open up new levels of dialogue in the Riederwald district. The content will explore pressure, stress, and expectations, and explore the experiences of the project group.
As part of unter.druck, a series of activities takes place, including workshops, theater and festival visits, culminating in an intensive theater week. The scenes developed with the participants are presented at a final event in the district.

2022: break up
With the "auf.brechen" project, we will be bringing a breath of fresh air to the community of Bingenheim and the Wetterau region with theater and culture starting in spring 2022. With a workshop, presentations, and the bARTer, we are creating space for intergenerational, inclusive, and intercultural encounters among residents.
Experienced artists and educators work with a mixed-age group using physical theater. In a collaborative process with the participants, they synthesize their experiences, stories, scenes, ideas, and songs into a performance. They then perform the performance in three communities in the Wetterau region.
The project concludes with the "bARTer." Residents, local initiatives, and professional artists meet at the "bARTer." At the cultural exchange, we exchange and share culture (a song, a play, a dance, a painting, etc.), thus creating participatory access to art that is open to all.
A project in cooperation with Wetteraussicht eV and the Bingenheim community.
Supported by Kulturkoffer Hessen.
