Call to all artists from the

Performing Arts and Music

Join us and apply for our on-the-go theater festival in public spaces by November 15, 2025!

Our mobile theater festival is entering its second year: We are looking for artists to join us on a festival tour through the Rhine-Main region.

The on-the-go theatre festival will stop at three locations in Hesse on the following dates, probably in the Offenbach district:

8-10 May

May 12-14

15-17 May

During the entire 10-day festival period, we live together in our theater community on the Protagon cultural grounds in Frankfurt and carpool to the festival venues.

With the unterwegs Theaterfestival (On the Road Theater Festival), Protagon eV, in cooperation with local actors, brings culture into public spaces, especially in smaller, rural towns, thus creating a space for culture, community, and dialogue. The festival is free of charge and funded by donations.

We are looking for theater, dance, performance, walk acts, music, children's theater, and participatory workshops for public spaces that explore the topic of "Ocean & Atmosphere." We want to explore the current social and ecological relevance of the oceans and help shape social atmospheres that are collective, inclusive, and based on solidarity. Decolonial and anti-racist perspectives on the topic are particularly welcome.

Required information:

  • Description (including experience in public spaces)

  • Image for program and press (min. 300dpi)

  • Text for program booklet (300-500 characters)

  • Technical Rider

  • Possible performance dates

  • Information on accessibility

We look forward to your suggestions so that we can ultimately select a diverse and high-quality selection of performances. We will accept applications until November 15, 2025, and we aim to respond to all applicants by December 20 at the latest.

We look forward to a lively festival tour with you!

In cooperation with the Frankfurt-based cultural association protagon and local partners, the unterwegs theater festival is taking place for the first time this year: open air and free admission! It creates a completely new space for large and small theater and music formats, for pieces that can be experienced with all the senses and for which a conventional stage is too small and too rectangular.

In times when hatred and aggression are becoming socially acceptable again, we want to come together and encourage an artistic exploration of the forest as a place of cooperation between different living beings. In an open cultural space, we will work with you to create a place for theater culture, social interaction, and dialogue.

Look forward to:

Theatre & Dance,

Live music,

Walk-acts,

Workshops,

Children's program,

Culinary delicacies
