Open Call - Unterwegs 2027

Calling all performing arts and music artists – join us and apply by November 10, 2026 for our traveling theatre festival in public spaces!

Our mobile theatre festival is entering its third year: We are looking for artists to join us on a festival tour through the Rhine-Main region.

The touring theatre festival will be stopping in three locations in Hesse in the district of Offenbach from May 14th to 23rd, 2027.

With its traveling theater festival, Protagon eV, in cooperation with local partners, brings culture into public spaces, especially smaller, rural areas, thus creating a space for culture, community, and dialogue. The festival is free of charge – it is funded by donations.

We are seeking children's theatre, theatre, dance, performance art, walk-around acts, music, and participatory workshops for public spaces that artistically engage with current socio-political issues. Performances should take place in daylight, at ground level in parks and squares (grass, concrete, no dance floor), and be understandable without extensive dialogue. Decolonial and anti-racist perspectives from international groups or artists with a migration background are particularly welcome (but not required). Each performance can be presented a maximum of three times, once at each festival location.
