Ecofeminism connects the dots between environmentalism, feminism, and social justice, highlighting how environmental degradation and social inequalities are intertwined. The earth and marginalized communities are often exploited in similar ways, and both need protection and care.
The Intersectional Environmentalist – by Leah Thomas
For the diverse program of the International Women's* Theatre Festival 2025, we are looking for artistic responses for a diverse audience. We are particularly interested in whether your contribution relates to this year's theme, for example, the following points:
Women* and the environment, ecofeminism
What artistic strategies or methodologies have theatre practitioners and artists developed in recent years in the spirit of ecofeminism to create environmentally conscious and feminist-inspired work processes?
How do artists deal with ecological and social conflicts, especially in the area of tension between gender equality and environmental destruction?
How do directors, authors, actors and musicians create a solidarity-based, just and sustainable future for women* and marginalized groups in the spirit of ecofeminism?
WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Theatre performances, performances, dance
Performances in public spaces – e.g. audio walks, site-specific performances, etc.
Workshop leaders in performing arts and music
DJ* and live musicians/bands
Video art, short films, video installations, etc. for our “Pandora's Box” format
Contributions to our gallery – e.g. photography, paintings, etc.
Contributions to the topic for our symposium
