For this workshop, we ask for previous experience in Contact Improvisation. We will focus on physically demanding and more advanced techniques such as lifts, inversions and supporting weight while falling and rising. The essence in this course is to embody the knowledge through precise exercises into the practice of improvisation and jamming.

Ulla Mäkinen (FIN) and Katja Mustonen (FIN) have studied and worked together since 2001. At the moment they are working on their MA in Contemporary Dance Pedagogy in the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Frankfurt am Main. During the years they have traveled their own ways around the world, worked, studied and practiced contact improvisation as well as other techniques in the field of dance and arts. Although they have shared knowledge and taught a lot separately, this is the first time they will combine their discoveries by teaching together.
