Kontaktimprovisation
 Entering Contact

This is a basic workshop for Contact Improvisation, aimed for beginners as well as more experienced dancers. We will work with useful skills in technique, such as following the point of contact, giving and receiving weight, playing with gravity and momentum. Through mindful practising of the basics, we strengthen, explore and redefine our patterns. Entering with a beginner’s mind in each moment, we open up myriad pathways to the unknown.


Ulla Mäkinen (FIN) and Katja Mustonen (FIN) have studied and worked together since 2001. At the moment they are working on their MA in Contemporary Dance Pedagogy in the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Frankfurt am Main. During the years they have traveled their own ways around the world, worked, studied and practiced contact improvisation as well as other techniques in the field of dance and arts. Although they have shared knowledge and taught a lot separately, this is the first time they will combine their discoveries by teaching together.
